The perfect team — teaching future generations of farmers to be stewards of the land.
Marcel manages all of the daily operations of Vallotton Farms Ltd., which includes the management, marketing and operational work. He is committed to continually learning and changing his techniques to keep up with the latest technology, equipment and thinking in agriculture.
Teresa manages the personnel and behind the scenes operations of the farm so that the team continues to run efficiently and effectively. She is committed to sharing her love of ag online and via social media; check out FarmFemmes where she and her sister share women's unique perspectives on modern agriculture.
Both Marcel and Teresa grew up on farms and are committed to the values and lifestyle their farming operation provides and promotes.
Pierre has had a wide variety of farming experiences, both in his native Switzerland and over the last 40 years in Canada. At various times throughout his career he has been involved in forestry as well as dairy, beef and grain farming operations. He brings a wealth of experience to the operation and has seen many changes over his farming career; throughout it all he has maintained a passion for farming that keeps him going well into his 70s!
Every year we rely on the invaluable help from trainees to plant, care for and harvest a crop. Trainees have a wide variety of skills and interests, but they all have farming knowledge and experience. Some want to learn new farming techniques while others are more interested in operating large equipment or are focused on learning English. Each year two or three trainees bring their experience and skills to our operation and we provide them with the opportunity to learn and grow as farmers and as people. This year our trainees are from France; we have also hosted trainees from Austria, Switzerland, Germany and Denmark.
Many of the beautiful photos on our site are the creative work of our 2017 trainee Michael Hauser. He has also had photos used in IRE promotional materials and has a photo published in the 2018 Richardson Pioneer calendar.
